Your biggest local store is McKillop’s Eurospar on the Coast Road. This is located across the bridge from the Stables and is less than a minute’s walk. The nearest off-licenses would be the neighbouring bars on Bridge Street or the Wine Flair, located a 5 minute walk away on Dalriada Avenue. There is a Fuel Station, CB Fuels, at the end of Mill Street and another at Alan Murphy’s by the Red Arch on the Coast Road.

  • Best Places for a Drink

Well, we’ve certainly no shortage of watering holes around us. Two of our closest neighbours are pubs on Bridge Street, namely the Lurig Bar and the Central Bar. Just around the corner on Mill Street is the famous Johnny Joe’s Traditional Irish Pub (best for traditional Irish music). Farther afield, though still perfectly walkable, are Cushendall Golf Club and Cushendall Sailing and Boating Club. within driving range are the Saffron and the Mariner’s bars in Waterfoot and McBride’s and the Cushendun Hotel in Cushendun. If you get around all of them then you'll be doing very well indeed!

If you need a taxi just let us know and we can sort out contact details for you!

  • Local Eateries

Thankfully, we have an abundance of quality places to eat around here. The nearest restaurant is the ever reliable Harry’s Restaurant on Mill Street. There is also Restaurant 1938 located upstairs at the golf club with panoramic views of the Sea of Moyle, the golf course and Lurig Mountain. Farther afield we have McBride’s who do bar food during the week and have a completely separate menu under the guise of “The Little Black Door” on weekends - book ahead for this one! The Laragh Loge is another fantastic option in Glenariff Forest Park. Take a walk around the majestic waterfalls after you fill up here to make room for dessert. Fancy a takeaway? Why not try Golden Fry Chinese or the Peppermill pizzeria and chip shop on Mill Street. If you would enjoy a café for a spot of lunch then Café Cova is right across the road from us, you can get lovely freshly baked goods from Hawthorn & Rose on Mill Street or coffee with a view from North Coffee at the Boat Club.
